English Bentside Spinet by Stephen Keene, c 1710. Inscribed on nameboard Stephanus.Keene.Londini.Fecit with note letters from B- D, the reverse incsribed S four times at random. The case of bleached walnut with fleur -de-lys brass accessories, the interior plain, the four and a quarter octave keyboard of 52 ebony and ivory keys from B to D, the lower two ivory sharp keys divided, the ebony keyboard fronts with raised relief decoration probably embossed paper, in restored playing condition, much worm, on later attached baluster turned and block stand, 157cm in length and 57cm in width, restorations and renovations.The extreme bass jack signed Peter Whale. There are similarities in the above with examples of S.Keene's work recorded in 1956 Boalch.
