Monk brq oboe Stanesby boxwood at a=415. Copied after an instrument c.1700 by Thomas Stanesby Senior in the University of Edinburgh Collection of Historic Musical Instruments. The instrument is made from acid-stained boxwood with three brass keys; unstained boxwood can be used if preferred (the original is stained) and silver keys can be supplied at extra cost. The tenons are lapped with thread and two reeds and staples are provided with each instrument.
A successful collaboration between the Christopher Monk workshops and a leading baroque oboe maker and player, Dick Earle, has produced excellent copies of period oboes as well as oboe d'amore and oboes da caccia.
