Monk oboe d'amore Oberlender at a=415. Copied after an original in unstained boxwood c.1730 by I.W Oberlender in the Germanisches Nationalmuseum, Nürnberg. This instrument, with three brass keys and particularly beautiful turnery detail, plays with even tone and unusually good intonation throughout the range. The tenons are lapped with thread and two reeds and one short bocal are supplied with each instrument.
A successful collaboration between the Christopher Monk workshops and a leading baroque oboe maker and player, Dick Earle, has produced excellent copies of period oboes as well as oboe d'amore and oboes da caccia.
