The von Huene workshops make Ganassi recorders based on an instrument housed in the Kunsthistorische Museum in Vienna. This instrument is believed to be very similar to the one which Sylvestro Ganassi writes about in his tutor of 1535 ‘La Fontegara’. The large bore gives it a strong renaissance sound whilst the baroque range enables it to play the most virtuosic music of the renaissance. Alto in f, figured maple, a=440. This Ganassi alto is also available with innovative keys for low F and F# not only to help the reach to the bottom hole, but also to facilitate playing F# without having to shade the bottom hole.
