- Bass Viol
Lu Mi 6 string bass viol (consort) after Henry Jaye (string length 745mm) made to the highest possible standards. This Henry Jaye bass viol has a longer string length making it particularly suitable as a consort bass instrument where a full, rich sound is required. It is made from very high quality wood and combines excellent craftmanship with a full, rounded, clean sound and beautiful appearance. The ribs, back and neck are made of sycamore, the top of spruce, and the fingerboard and tailpiece of sycamore with ebony veneer or birds-eye maple. The wood is fully kiln-dried for stability.
The Lu Mi range of instruments is the result of years of development and refinement overseen by Markku Luolajan-Mikkola, the leading Finnish gamba player. They are instruments designed by a player of distinction with other professional performers in mind, and are faithful to the authentic light construction techniques of early strings.
