The Rosslyn renaissance bray harp is based on the 15th-century Wartburg harp in Eisenach, Germany. It is a relatively portable harp with a silvery buzz. It has a hollowed-out "clamshell" soundbox made from either sycamore or lime, with a sycamore arm and pillar. The string arm has been designed to allow the player to accurately fret semi-tones. The Rosslyn bray harp is the ideal harp for exploring late medieval and renaissance music. It is named after the beautiful and mysterious Rosslyn Chapel, near Edinburgh, where a harp player is found amongst 15th-century carvings in the crypt.
