  • West Dean College

    West Dean College is part of the Edward James Foundation, an educational trust that aims to promote training in the arts and crafts. The College offers full-time postgraduate diplomas: five in conservation and restoration of historic artefacts, and also in tapestry weaving and the making of early stringed musical instruments. We run a year-round programme of short courses in the visual arts, crafts, music and gardening, and our gardens are open to the public each year between March and October. We are also home to the West Dean Tapestry Studio, which designs and weaves tapestries to commissions.

  • York Early Music International Young Artists Competition

    Applications are now being invited for the York Early Music International Young Artists Competition (previously known as the Early Music Network IYAC). To take part, applicants need to be: aged between 17 and 30 years (35 for singers); part of an ensemble of at least 3 members and playing repertory from the Middle Ages to the 19th century using period instruments. The Competition will take place at the National Centre for Early Music from 16 - 18 July 2009 as part of the York Early Music Festival. The closing date for entries is 5 December 2008.
