Jacqui Robertson-Wade was first introduced to the viol at Trinity College of Music in 1980 while studying ‘cello there. Later as a mature student, Jacqui returned to Trinity with a scholarship to study the specialist repertoire of late French viols, including the pardessus de viole. She has been described by the Birmingham Post as a player who uses the expressive potential of the bass viol to full effect in her performance of Marais’ Folies d’Espagne.

Jacqui has worked with various ensembles in the midlands, including Musica Leonarda and for the Royal Shakespeare Company.A pioneer in the world of viol teaching for children, Jacqui established viol tuition for Warwickshire Music Service 10 years ago. She directs various childrens’ consorts many of which have received national recognition and commendation in the National Festival of Music for Youth.

Jacqui is a regular tutor for Norvis, the Early Music for Youth Summer School, the Viola da Gamba Society`s Summer School and also directs courses at Farncombe Centre for Lifelong Learning.
